I might point out that many people seem to try to gravitate things towards themselves. I admit I tried to force my way into the storyline, but I held no illusions of success (in fact all but one attempt ended in epic failure).

Holy stuff you are such a loving douchebag. Your arrogance seeps profusely out of this post. Instead of just going with the flow you try to stress that your character is super important. My character used to do stuff but now he's pretty loving boring. I'm not complaining. It's just how it happened, it's how I developed him.

You need to develop your character better and stop trying to make your character the 'main antagonist'.
