Someone who can use shaders, for the love of god. TAKE PICTURES.

Look back a few pages. There are like 4 pics.

Good Morning BluuuuuuuuuuuuuZone.

We should really get a DJ there doing radio announcements or something, haha.

Also, I just saved us from certain second page doom. We need something to happen.

Well, hopefully someone hosts today. :I

I might in a little

Back home, finally.
The new update now works for me, but I can't view the shaders. I'll be playing around anyway and hopefully I'll host tomorrow.

Dear god we are dropping. This isn't good.

Goddammit now I need to get a new graphics card

Goddamnit now I need to get a new 800$ laptop because it's impossible to replace the graphics card.

It shouldn't necessarily be a DJ imo. I think it should be like that guy in Spec Ops: The Line. He's a war-torn guy in a War-torn place and he's playing American songs and talking on it. I don't think people would DJ in bluzone.
Another thing. Spell check thinks bluezone is blazone.

forget dat. I already spent my $20 on this game. It's crap that we have to buy a mega-expensive thing to be able to see the biggest change in the update...
Is he gonna fix this problem/can it be fixed?

I doubt it. I attempted with my Intel to minimum, instant crash. So you'll probably need to upgrade.

Question, I'm really tempted to go play Sims, but I'm wondering if anyone's gonna host soon. Any plans?

Yeah I might be able to get on for a bit :D
I haven't been on for like 2 weeks

Alright, time to clear some things up.

A lot of people are worried by the fact that their PC or Laptop does not take kindly to the update. Whether it's a low framerate, you crash when turning shadows or shaders on or even if they don't even display when you have them on - people are complaining about it.

Point is, everyone is complaining about how the new graphical update doesn't work for them or is poorly optimized. This was expected. We are merely playing a test release, with some extra goodies thrown in. Most of us have known this, or should remember this.

Back when the update was first announched, kompressor implied that we will get a test release. That the developers will continue to optimize the shadows and shaders and fix whatever bugs are encountered. kompressor stated that if you could run Blockland pre-shadows and shaders, you would be able to run it with them on. Obviously this is not the case as of now, but it will be fixed in the future.

  • "But my computer can’t run shaders/is lame and slow/has broken drivers!" Get a new video card, even a $20 lame-o ATI or nVidia video card can run Blockland very well these days. BUT - you can turn shaders off, and the game will run and look as good as it ever has.
Will there be any sort of public testing before the release to ensure that it will run fine before it goes live?

See OP. It will be off by default for a while while we test it. -- kompressor

I'm sure there are some other quotes from the original Shadows and Shaders topic floating around that support this, but these two quotes should be good enough.

Point is, we are running a test release. It's not perfect and it sure as hell isn't optimized as expected. So don't worry about you never being able to see shadows and shaders or run them. This is not the final release of Shadows and Shaders. The developers will continue to work on them for the time being until they work as promised.

So sit tight and wait it out. There's nothing to worry about.

That and the fact that this problem isn't the highest priority. He's going to fix the bugs in general that have to do with shadows and shaders before adding support for other things.

You bought this game when there were no shaders and shadows. You got you what payed for - and you still have what you payed for. You can turn shaders and shadows off if they're too slow. But like you said, it doesn't work for you - so for you nothing has changes except some new gamemodes and stuff. This was a free update, you paid nothing for it. Like I said, you already got what you payed for so quit complaining.

You're not obliged to go out and spend a few hundred dollars on a new video card just for this game. If you feel like you need to do that, that's your problem. You're making it harder on yourself.
