Do you have any credible source to back your claim that the vast majority of Christians are Christian because of their parents? I don't really see how you can measure either of those really.
When I was a kid, my dad would say some bs to explain something and I'd believe it until I was like 9, never questioning it.
Only with this they would tell you every day for your entire childhood.
I'm a Christian that actually understands that evolution exists.
Pretty much this. I have atheist friends like, Eksi let's say, who we can talk about religion in an open manor, and even though he doesn't believe in prayer, I still pray for him through some troubles. It's Christians who think that anyone who doesn't beleive in their own religion is going to burn in hell. Yes that could be one thing the Bible says, but it also says to love everyone as yourself, and you shouldn't be calling people out telling them to burn in hell for the aspect that they simply don't believe in what you believe in. In honesty, I could care less what religion someone is.
My problem with these types of beliefs is that it directly contradicts your bible, and that's the elephant in the room. You can either believe god created adam, eve, and all the animals within 7 days or you can believe evolution. (assuming you are christian)
To anyone arguing the types of christianity against this, please show me a type that doesn't follow the bible.
There's quite a difference between not liking it because it's being shoved in your face, or BS rules, and "I WANT TO BE DIFFERENT"
Parents teach their beliefs to their children.
Very young children will believe anything you tell them, especially if it's someone they trust greatly.
Neither of those are extraordinary claims.
If a child is born to a Christian family, the child will most likely be Christian, because the parents will teach the religious ideas to them.
The same follows for any religion.
Yes but I think kids think something is uncool or w/e when they are teens because they are directly opposing their parents.
tommy: "i got a lip ring mom umad"
mom: "OMG TOMMY WTF >:C"
tommy reaps in the attention. he knew his mom wouldn't like a lip ring because that's her personality. therefore if your parents are religious, becoming atheist at that age is most likely because their parents pushed religion on them, albeit indirect.
