This isn't possible with torque sadly.

Author Topic: Walking around in vehicles.  (Read 657 times)

So I was thinking sometimes, why do we always have to sit in the seats put in the vehicle, why can't we walk?
For some vehicles such as the Jeep or Tank this is a really bad idea, but for others like a plane or a submarine this could change a lot of things, and if the vehicle crashes into something all players standing up in the vehicle would be tumbled or be dis-mounted from the vehicle.

GSF (or Strato i don't remember) did it with an aircraft carrier.

that was [GSF] Ghost.

Say if somehow badspot or kompressor develops a way to have buildable brick vehicles that you could also walk in but they have to remove all existing vehicle add-ons.

What makes it impossible is that you are forced in the vehicle by jumping on it and there is no collision on the inside anyways. So if brick vehicles had your typical brick collision and they found another way to drive the vehicle without jumping on it then I think it is possible.

The mounting part could easily be replaced with a Use-key thing, just like all those other games.
A use-key being added to the game would be so useful in a fair amount of situations anyhow. :S
Activating stuff is cool, but for mounting on activate, you would have to miss pushing a vehicle.

There is a script that replaces jumping onto vehicles with clicking onto them. Maybe instead of clicking the car itself we could click on the steering wheel to drive.

It didn't work very well.  The Aircraft Carrier didn't take any players or aircraft with it.  They would just slide off.

Wow @ the thought of the Aircraft Carrier without players sliding off, that would've been great

Here's how the self-built vehicle thing could work.

Four sets of wheels, wings, and curved upside-down ramps and seat bricks

(ramps for boats wheels for land vehicles and wings are loving obvious)

CREATION
Plant four wheel bricks and put them together via blocks. On every brick plant, the console/syntax will update a "brickmap" to see if a vehicle structure has been created. A valid vehicle structure for a car would have atleast two wheels and a seat connected to it via bricks. After a proper car skeleton has been made, and you have no items in your hook/hand (e.g. gun, printer, brick placer, etc) you can ride in it. Right clicking shall also be the way out of the vehicle.

CUSTOMIZATION
After a valid skeletal vehicle has been built, you could then build on it (when there is no driver and it is in brick-mode.

HOW IT WOULD WORK
This one is probably the most challenging to do, but only for the people making the mod/but only for kompresser/badspot. The syntax, when detecting a valid vehicle, will save it's design every time it gets changed. When the vehicle is being driven around, it cannot be stopped/parked/left when facing diagonally. When it's near aligned with the terrain/bricks/etc below it, and the player leaves the vehicle, the vehicle will revert into actual bricks (via syntax using the saved data), along with it facing the nearest direction the vehicle was parked at.
