I honor and respect military servicemen but I think joining the army especially during a serious war is not worth it. The only thing close to military I would ever join would be national guard but then again I want to go to med school and not the army

Veeeerrry few people die in the current wars. Imagine having to fight in WWI (you'd die almost for sure), WWII, where you might be put in some of the beach landing slaughterhouses, or blown apart by shelling and Vietnam, where explosive trip wires could very well take off both your legs, you could be caught and torched.
Fighting now isn't half bad.
