Author Topic: Man sues Ubisoft over copyright infringment on the AC series  (Read 1992 times)

I hope Ubisoft loses. They are kind of like EA, but with an even worse DRM.

This is sort of like that guy who tried to sue Rockstar because they stole his life story for San Andreas... 6 years after the fact

i still don't forgive ubisoft for all of those Raving Rabbids games....

"Beiswenger is seeking 1.05 million in damages and up to $5.25 million if the judge rules Ubisoft knowingly infringed on the copyright"

what a greedy piece of stuff, I bet the book's horrible too

There's also the fact that he could of collected millions of dollars in royalties.

Nope those numbers look reasonable to me, if Ubisoft did copy his work they're making profit off someone else's content. Ubisoft in 2010 made 1.2 Billion at the end of the financial year, AC2 selling 9 mill copies times that by about $40 and you've got $360,000,000. This guy is asking for $6,300,000 of a story of which it looks like Ubisoft directly copied from, that's really not much in the long run. That's barely 3% of one of the games profits, if he was to be completely compensated he'd get something like 25% of the entire franchise.

and then he'd be a very very rich man

Okay, $360m, but you have to factor in the cost to make AC3.

yeah, I guess so
I wasn't thinking about how it compares to the money they made off it
he should ask for more, I know I would

AC3 gets stopped.
This guy has a 70% chance that a crowd of people will come after him and beat the living stuff out of him.

It'll probably suck, anyway.
In the entertainment industry having the number 3 on almost any title seems to be a curse that cannot be taken back
