First of all I don't like Skyping with many people to begin with.
Second of all, Skype is a slowdown.
Third of all, ever watched a video like this with a ton of people voice chatting at the same time? It's horribly annoying.

(Assuming this is using the same rules as MindCrack used), you can mine a staircase downwards but if you hit bedrock you have to come back up. No branching off at all.
Caving is allowed though. :D
