Hey guys. Tittle explains it; post all you know about proxies and such. What they're useful for, their legality, and average life spans. I want to set one up on my iTouch but I cannot get a HTTP proxy to work. I can get a URL one to go through though. These are recent ones("proxy checked 30 seconds ago").

If its a paid service I highly doubt I'd be banned, it's not even a a rule.

This, I forgot I had a proxy enabled and tried to log into the Forums and was banned for a few days.

There's a difference between logging into the forums with a proxy enabled and discussing proxies.

all it does is change the IP you're visiting sites with .. it's not magically undetectable

and the forum wouldn't necessarily "detect it". I'm sure Badspot has banned lots of proxies just from people logging in using them. if you try a proxy here and you get a ban message that just means someone else was stupid enough to use it and get banned.

haven't tried it myself. maybe there is some magical proxy detecting thing. doesn't seem like it would be difficult, just get a list of IPs that proxies use and ban them all ..

I'm pretty sure the whole getting banned for using proxies thing was when Badspot banned via IP and not via ID/Game key.
