Author Topic: I need to split a large video (.avi) clip into many smaller ones  (Read 2043 times)

It's about as fast as it can get. You just have to do it manually because there is no program that can automatically select portions of the video for you.
Okay, :P.
Well thanks, I will try it :)
Also, thanks for defending me.

Dont do that with your text, it makes you look handicapped.
Do you really need to be told what programs to use?
loving use WMM.

It doesn't matter which video editor you use if you're only cutting up an already made video.

Seriously.

K, and my WMM sucks butt.

Well some are laggy as crap. (I know, crap isn't laggy)

loving use WMM.

If your computer can't handle Windows Movie Maker... you won't find any better help here.

It has to be the simplest video editing program to date.

It can handle it, it's just a piece of crap editor.
Also, Sony Vegas says it can't process the codecs of the video.

All you are doing is cutting a video file into chunks.  How can't WMM help you?

Try to demo Adobe Premiere then.  It's probably the best video editing program to date.

Probably.  I've only ever used a handful.

Edit:

Also, Sony Vegas says it can't process the codecs of the video.

Open it in WMM, then save it.  It'll be a standard video file if it's not already.

:)

No its not. Windows Movie Maker is a great editor, the best free one, anyways.

Yes it is, I can do better with other ones.

God dammit.

You're going to need to convert the .avi first. Download Easy H.264. You can find it on Google. The reason you need to convert it is because well, it's a loving .avi. It may come out corrupted if you edit that in Windows Movie Maker. After you convert it to something better, use WMM to divide it into parts yourself. No program or anyone is going to do this for you, stop being lazy. Afterwards you can do whatever the hell you want with your clips.

You're not using WMM to edit anything. Just divide the video into clips, that's what it's good for. You already have the tools right there, stop complaining.
