Author Topic: Tips on making my models look better?  (Read 2869 times)

So I've been around the forums lately and a bunch of starfishs have been hating on my models, what can I do to improve them because i'm sick of this stuff.

use less cylinders, don't make your edges so unusually pointy.

Alright, anything else?

I suggest that you hardly ever scale your models to real life. Remember that Blockheads are short and stumpy so the models should be too. If your making a long model, like a sniper rifle, the long barrel really shouldn't be any longer than the length of the blockhead. Also, when it comes to cylinders, try to limit yourself to octagonal or hexagonal ones. And avoid smooth shading.

Don't take the criticism too hard. My first models were awful.

Thanks, I have a small problem, when I implemented one of my models in-game it automatism gets smooth shaded, how do i fix it?
(I'm using MS3D btw)

I'm not a Milkshaper, but maybe you should look at this.

Thanks, now another problem.

Whenever i extrude the extruded part when I put the view on textures always turns out black, have no idea why.

Go for the Blender!!!!!!!

I like Milkshape except I always had a stupid problem of being able to select vertices

I started using Blender. It's overwhelming at first sight, but gets easier.
My models arent that great, because I've only been modeling for a few days now, but I can't wait until I get better! :D

We aren't starfishs hating I your work. You can't call people starfishs for being objectively correct.

When using ms3d, go into the edit tab and click 'refresh textures' often. It will fix the black thing

Thanks for the refresh textures thing, also that was a badly put-together sentence.
You are not starfishs.

You are not starfishs.

But if you used to go by the name "Lamebro", your minecraft models really sucked.
You just stuck cubes together, for god's sake.

Oh lol that was just a typo. iPhone autocorrect is annoying sometimes.

Because the community asked for blocky models.
You aren't helping me improve.
