Interesting subject + good composition = Good picture.

I too used to think that a picture of any boring subject could be made into a good picture if the photographer made it interesting enough. I'm starting to think that isn't completely true. Yeah, if you take a sharp, correctly exposed and creatively composed picture of a hose, it may be an okay picture. People might look at it for a second and think "that's kind of pretty". However, being just a picture of a hose, it lacks impact and is simply boring. The audience will forget about it and go on with their life.

That doesn't mean that you shouldn't take pictures of random stuff. It can be fun, and can help improve you skill. You might happen to get a picture or two that are interesting, but most of the time when you're taking pictures of boring stuff your pictures will most likely be boring.

I like most of Sirrus' other work (especially his black and white stuff), but his "rurex" set (the one with the hose) isn't that great.

^Awesome stuff^

I took a few pictures on the way back from me granfer's camp, I will post later.
Thanks!

An old abandoned 19th century building.

It's really close to an old quarry, so I think it may have been used as a storage? Not sure.

First and second picture take me to the same place ;c

Fixed!

They're not all that much bigger. I took the links off of my tumblr blog, and tumblr automatically re-sizes really big images.

Oh god, the zoomed in shots are so grainy. I hope the others were better.

EDIT: Yeah, the others are great. I set one as my wallpaper.
I was just trying to get those hills though. Shame the iPhone zoom just lowers quality.

That was the mother of all pagestretches before I fixed it. 2048 wide.

You could use that grain to your advantage if you do some post-editing. Perhaps some warmth/sepia? Maybe grainy black/white?

Nonetheless, a very pretty picture! Reminds me of a camping trip I went on once, had a little burst of nostalgia. Thankyou! :P

Thank you!
I'll see if I can do anything, because I have no idea what I'm doing.

Would you mind if I took a try and giving it a quick edit?

That would be great, go ahead.

Took me a couple of minutes, and it's nothing breathtaking- but I think it looks nice :cookieMonster:

Just because a photo is grainy, doesn't mean it looks bad! However, it would still be much nicer if it were crisp, haha. Well done for an iPhone, in any case.

Thanks, I like that!

Welcome! It's pretty easy stuff if you have the right programs. All you need is an intention and some creative ideas to display it.

Also, two more pictures. First one is from inside that abandoned building, second one is a trespassing sign.

Which is more preferable?

First one more interesting to me.
