i can see the problem with lag if this is added.....what happens if the data for the voice is delayed and gets overlapped to another voice?
/ear rape.

This has been asked 100s of time. The reason Gmod and other games like it have voice chat is because they are on Source, Blockland is on Torque 1.5.

It doesn't work.

what lag

It doesn't work.

You mean Torque 1.3 right?

TGE originally was planned to ship with a support system for voice chat, however that was scrapped. There are still some remainders in the game code (for example the arguments for clientCmdChatMessage and some other stuff).

Don't go posting "this has been suggested 100s of times".
I know. You don't need to say that.

This would work just fine. The only problem is that it would mean a huge amount of up/down throughput is hoarded for something which not everyone would use.

There would, of course, be an option to turn it on and off.

I hate using mics, because if you turn it off, you don't know what people are saying.

If you turn it on, you get to hear lovely songs. Especially terrible ones.

and rly just get Skype and create a chat room and add the ppl on your server to it ( whole lot simpler)

Programming mics is always tricky, hence why most games either use a plugin-based voice chat or leave people to use dedicated programs like Ventrilo or Teamspeak.  The C++ has to be modified to let the program "see" the hardware, which could inadvertently lead to a whole barrage of backdoor exploits, and probably most of the players would suddenly get new amounts of lag, due to the massive throughput to keep even a heavily compressed audio session running.  Keep in mind, a 128Kbps MP3 is about 20x compression, and it still comes in at about 1MB a minute.

If you've got the bandwidth, just run Vent, TS, or Skype.

Just use Teamspeak or Skype

Several problems with this suggestion, and please note that every single one of these has been mentioned many, many times:
1. It's not possible to make this in-game, it would have to be an external program.
2. It can be easily, and heavily, abused. Quote: "I don't want to listen to prepubescent children whining" is an example. Another example are trolls, well, trolling.
3. It would heavily lag the game. EXTREMELY.
4. There's this thing called Cyber-bullying, and this definetly wouldn't help that.
5. It's not wanted by 75% of the blockland community.

In summation, it CANNOT be done. And even if it could, it is a HORRIBLE idea. Just use skype or teamspeak if you want voice chat so much.

Problem.

The sentence: "Raging kids on mics" come to mind...

I think it's a bad idea.

Micspam would be a huge problem.

There would be the option to mute someone, or the host could kick/ban them.
