oh my god this game is so hard, just started playing it and the farthest level i can get to is the one labeled "the depths 1" i believe.

anybody have any strategies on how to beat this incredibly hard game? i've only got eve, magladene and isaac unlocked.

Tips:

  • Slowly learn what everything does because as corny as it sounds, knowledge is your greatest weapon in TBoI.
  • If you've got a surplus of anything (Bombs, keys, health, money) look for ways to trade it for something you need. Blood Banks let you trade spare health for money (they ignore the gray "soul hearts" so don't worry about losing them), and slot machines let you trade pennies for random items.
  • If you have some extra money and you're feeling lucky, give it to the little bum if you find him. Chances are he'll give you a Health Up or other useful items you won't get from the slots or the skull game.
  • Make mental notes of which items you do well with and which ones you don't. Knowing which items to risk everything to get and which ones aren't even worth a cent makes a huge difference. I, for one, will never touch Ipecac again.
  • Learn which enemies do what and how to counter them.
  • Always visit the Secret Room if possible. It usually contains money or an item not normally found in Treasure Rooms, but can also contain a slot machine or the mini-boss Greed (who tends to drop a lot of money when you kill him). Secret Rooms always share a wall with at least two other rooms, so use this to help you locate them.
  • stuff is going to happen. You're going to run into that point where you've been stripped of your heart containers through some freak pill accident or use your only key to open the Treasure Room and find The Poop, but eventually it'll all even out. Even if you end up dying on that run, there will always be more runs where you'll find Dead Dove or Transcendence on the first floor or Epic Fetus in the Secret Room.

If I think of anything else I'll post it

Tip:

  • Never pick up the bottle of stuff that makes you shoot bombs. It kills your short range viability and hit rocks all the damn time and it is neat-o but forgets you over in the long run since it takes like 4 hours to kill anything that likes to hug.
  • Don't get technology 2. It's not worth it ever.

Yes, Ipecac is terrible

Are you high? Tech 2 is one of the best items lol

Edit: I'm so close to Platinum God I can smell it but not having the notification cards when I complete an objective is steering me away, the loss of that acknowledgment is kind of a downer

14 items, 4 secrets, 3 achievements remaining

Just finished the last run for the night;
12 items, 3 secrets, 3 achievements remaining
(apparently I miscounted last time, I was at 4 achievements, same as the secrets remaining)

I think I'll do some D6 runs to attempt to get some new items for now, hopefully McMillan fixes the problem soon

So I {picked up the Polaroid during my run and decided I might as well try to fight the true final boss}, unfortunately the game wasn't ready for that I guess and I ended up {fighting Isaac, though when I beat him I got the achievement for beating what was supposed to be ???}

On the bright side I managed to build quite the interesting character

If you find an arcade room, after you're finished in it, blow up all three of the things.
In fact just blow up everything you can't destroy with tears.

I have never been able to beat "The Bloat", I can have a great run going and all of a udden, I run into him and lose everything.

Yes.

It doesn't matter what the reason is, if you can get the DLC then you should.
Okay, just bought it.
Can I have acceptance now?

oh my
not regretting getting the dlc
got tech 2 on my first run with it, plus a couple of other things (one which increased my damage, so i got mega tears AND the tech 2 lol)
skipped three golden rooms and some golden chests just because i could
beat mom for the first time and got sampson to

thank you lord

EDIT: the increased damage one was Polyphemus which the wiki says maxes dmg
wow lol

forget spiders. forget them. That is all.

I have never been able to beat "The Bloat", I can have a great run going and all of a udden, I run into him and lose everything.

The Bloat is easily the hardest boss in the game. His lasers fire without warning, making painfully slow diagonal shots the only way to safely do damage.

forget spiders. forget them. That is all.

It took awhile but I can deal with the small flashing spiders, but those large Hopper-clones still irritate the stuff out of me.

My all-time least favorite enemy though is a tie between hanging Greed clones and Greed heads.

forget i'm battling envy and my power ups right now are: eight ball, brimstone, shoop da woop, lunch x2, holy water, ghost baby and the creature of the night one.  how the hell can i attack with brimstone i'm confused please help pls

forget I NEED HELP

Hold the direction you want to fire until your head flashes red.

I played the binding of isaac demo. I was one hit away from killing the boss.
:C

Hold the direction you want to fire until your head flashes red.
it does nothing

i let go of the fire button and it just stops

does the shoop da woop do something to brimstone?

It appears Brimstone was rendered unusable by a bug in the most recent update. Sorry, you're forgeted.
