Author Topic: Make BL for PS3  (Read 3615 times)

Blockland is most likely officialy going to be made for PS3, Xbox 360, etc, etc.

Stop pulling your statements out of your ass because this isn't true.

this isn't a democracy. This is more of a dictatorship then north korea

Meh. Doable. All of Blockland's libraries are supported on PS3, so really just some engine changes to support joysticks and such need to be made. In reality, one of us could do it with a custom DLL.

Good god, how many topics does this make?

This section needs a sticky that says not to request Blockland to be on Xbox, PS3, iPhone, Sega Genesis, etc.

how exactly do you propose to be able to supplement enough buttons, keys and joysticks for all the various things you need in order to control your blockhead, type, or build? all you could really do is run around and jump.

I like how everybody assumes this but never considers the fact that there is more than enough buttons. Just use a menu for the mundane things like emotes.

If Badspot and kompressor won't port Blockland to Torque3D for the PC, I don't think they plan on porting it to any other platforms. It's just too much of a hassle, it wouldn't be worth it.

Kompressor was also a developer for GarageGames, and I'm pretty sure he worked on Torque3D. They would upgrade if it was worth it lol.

Blockland was made for PC and no other system is what I think. If there was a way to make it just as good on a console, okay, it's worth looking into. However, the chances it gets ported to console is like a human turning into an umbrella by jumping into a fence.

Reality check:  I worked for garage games for a year.  Kompressor was the Torque technologies director for like 5 years.  We both think "upgrading" to Torque3D is a bad idea.
You don't have to use TorqueX to port to the 360, you can use TSE360 which would mean all the art and scripts could be ported straight over for the most part.  The problem is that Blockland doesn't really fit into the XBLA mindset of "pick up and play".  The learning curve is steeper than anything currently on XBLA.

It would have to be a boxed title, which means getting a publisher.  Also there's tons of testing certification you have to go through which takes time and money.  Plus there are marketability concerns with the game, even on the PC.

Don't hold your breath.

These two quotes alone should explain why this is never happening.

Just as a point of reference, anything transparent can still be visible. Transparency has different levels of opacity ranging from solid to invisible. Anything below 0% opacity can still be seen, you can see through it, but it can still be seen.

Also, Blockland will never be put onto a console. This has been suggested countless times each having been shot down by Badspot and the rest.

It would involve third party involvement to be on a console, so the game itself would not be fully owned by Badsopt. At that point the game would be pushed toward a more money based system. They would probably make us buy addons like iPod apps.
Not to mention, player made addons would be impossible unless you knew how to work off the console. You'd have to recode each existing addon just to get them to work on a PS3. It would be a big mess and would drain more money than it would bring in.

It's just a bad idea..
