Author Topic: Kid Icarus: Uprising  (Read 598 times)

A proper thread for the reboot of the classic Kid Icarus series, now available on 3DS!

Kid Icarus: Uprising is a title for the Nintendo 3DS video game system, developed by Project Sora and published by Nintendo. It is the third game in the Kid Icarus series and the first since 1991's Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters, a nineteen-year wait referenced in the game's announcement trailer shown at E3 2010. It was released on March 23, 2012 in North America and Europe. The game is also compatible with Circle Pad Pro and is bundled with the Nintendo 3DS Stand accessory for every copy of the game. It also uses the Nintendo Network, the first official game outside of Japan to do so.

So I got this game today, and it's actually quite good. The controls were hard to get the hang of, and the 3d is hard to get used to; however the game definitely makes up for this with the loving 3DS stand that comes with the game. Yeah because apparently people were too incompetent to hold the system in one loving spot so we needed a stand. Needless to say, I used the stuff out of that stand. The gameplay is very fast, so fast that the tutorial doesn't even teach you some things that you actually NEED to know to play the game, such as: "How the forget do I regain my health, oh stuff I'm going to die." The humor is actually loving wonderful, it can be cheesy at times, but there are many references to the original Kid Icarus.

I've only played the game for an hour, but so far it's pretty good, if not hard to get the hang of.

9/10

Attention lefties! Worried about how the controls will work for you? Here are a few ways you can play:

  • Normal controls, holding the stylus in your right hand and using the Circle Pad to move. Probably not very easy unless you're partially ambidextrous.
  • Reversed controls, holding the stylus in your left hand and using ABXY to move. The no-cost solution, but not as fluid as the Circle Pad.
  • Reversed controls, holding the stylus in your left hand and using a Circle Pad extension (sold separately).

I don't expect too much discussion but I figured it's better than taking over the 3DS thread.

How many multiplayer foes have you defeated? My count is currently 1320. I'm not sure if that's very good or not.

I added a link to your thread in my Megathread Reg.

Anyone have a favorite line in the game? Mine is "When freaky aliens give you lemons, make freaky alien lemonade!"
