Author Topic: How do I stop failing at typing?  (Read 2856 times)

Normal?

Type however you want. I learned how to type by playing games like Quake 3 and Counter-Strike. I don't follow anything like home-row, and I get around 85 WPM. I rarely make errors.

my hands just hover over the keyboard if I'm not scrolling or moving the mouse

I took a typing class...
Disregarded everything except where the keys were.

I type with every single on of my fingers except my left thumb and pinkies.
Well I use pinkie finger to hit enter and shift.

I don't really know how I type. I just know where the keys are and I can type without looking at the keys. Is that good? I use both hands and use left thumb on space, the right hand is for right side of keyboard and vise visa.  I only made on error that I didn't backspace to correct in this post.

i type in the queerest way possible.
w is pointy finger, d is thumb, a is finger next to pinkie, shift is pinkie, space is half my palm/thumb base

I'm one of the fasted typers in class but I still don't match up to half you guys. I am usually the first one in the row to finish mine and then I end up finishing the persons next to me for them.
I had to take a typing class so I learned where the letters were.

That's actually not a bad way to type. It's uncomfortable to me but it's a lot easier to reach the number bar.

I begin typing using the wasd keys as the basic placement for me
video gaming has helped me so much in life it's not even funny

Type however you want to type it doesent matter
you arent going to die if you type with 2 fingers are you?

Finger on shift, finger on H.
All I ever do. This way I can type Hello quickly.

I never really saw the point of the home row system. Sure, it's organized, but I always just "hunt and pick my keys" and I seem to be able to type just damn fine. I don't see the point in learning a whole new system.

If you're good at using your index fingers, then just use your damn index fingers. You aren't going to gain anything from going through the pain staking process of learning to type again.

what would you say if i told you she was cashews?
I would call you a smart-ass lol

i was always told that typing 'properly' would be required in college but i type however i feel like. usually i just use whichever finger is closest to the key that i want to press. i usually use my left index, middle, and ring finger with my right index to press things like backspace and enter. i use my left thumb sometimes to press the space bar, though.

I'd advise figuring your own way to type. Anything "Conventional" is a waste of time. The results you said you averaged using your usual style sounds more fitting, does it not?

Yes.
