It was funny for some people and alright for the first time, but then it keeps popping up again and again to the point where it begins drilling into your skull and you want to throttle someone and rip their intestines out.

It's not since we're not used to any change in gender roles, it's just since they won't loving shut up about it.

I'm somewhat curious how one would or could do such a thing, being able to have a program actually detect and know what the object of an image is and block it accordingly.

Sounds very interesting to me, I'd like to see someone do it just for nerdy-reasons.

Image recognition isn't that easy. Your best bet is to either adblock every image, and domains that some images come from, or do what I did and get over it

Once the show ends then so will the community.

Even if this claim was true (look at all the other cancelled/ended shows that still have large, active fanbases) I wouldn't count on it ending any time soon, as long as a large amount of people are watching it.

There's actually one way of making a pony blocker, and that's by blocking images that use a very similar color scheme to the one that is used in the show, just look at these, they're generic cotton candy colours used in most shows for small girls.

It might block non-MLP stuff,  though.

What about MLP images with slightly off colors, or completely different colors (OC characters, perhaps)?

The first one that comes to mind is Firefly. It was cancelled due to lack of viewers before it finished a single season, but a few years later, had retained enough fans, and attracted enough new fans to justify making a full length film, comics, and an RPG.

Cancelled shows never completely die. Fans don't just go "ok shows cancelled, time to completely stop caring"

Yes, a decent amount of people who just watch the show will forget about it eventually, but some of the more "hardcore bronies" whose actions range from creating custom pony characters, to spending thousands of dollars on costumes, are not going to.
