I've played it, but I find factions a lot better because it's better in general for contact with other people. Hack/Mine is almost just run away and hide in a hole and hope nobody finds you and steals all of your stuff while bludgeoning you with even more powerful stuff.

What are you talking about? Hack/mine is about teamwork and leveling up to raid better dungeons. When you die you don't even lose your stuff, how could people steal it?  You just respawn.
