it looks like you're using gimp

so after enabling the grid

go to image -> configure grid (near the bottom of the drop down menu) -> under spacing, there should be two numbers (10) for width and height. edit width's number to be 1 (enter 1 and then hit enter) and it should edit height and the other values

hit ok and voila

are you sure that's pixel art and not just a low resolution
'cause it doesn't look like pixel art to me
looks like... oekaki or something

I did this in a 100x100 canvas and I did the lines in pixels

yeah i'd say that some super gradient sparkles surrounding your character with a totally different shading style kind of throws off the look, maybe make the sparkles' transition a little more rough.
