Author Topic: Is emulating "LSD Dream Emulator" pirating?  (Read 6659 times)

Title says it all. I'd like to know if it would be considered pirating if i emulated LSD, or if the game was free to use like some other old games. My first choice was to buy an actual copy and play it on my backwards compatible PS2, then I found out that LSD copies are somewhat rare and go for around 200 dollars on ebay. The next closest thing I can afford is an emulator and a gamepad.

NOTE: I didn't download it yet, I'm only asking.

I dont really think that its a big deal if the game is like the one you are talking of. Rare games are ok for emulating IMO.

is it ok if you can't legitimately buy a copy from a retailer anymore?

I'm not sure how that works, seeing as how it was put the Playstation Network for purchase and download like a year or so ago.

so if i'd want to play the game without pirating i'd have to go out and buy a ps3? if i'm going to buy a $300 game console and probably a $10 dollar game i might as well go and by an original.

Like I said, I'm not too sure how it works. I'd assume since that's a way of obtaining it, the piracy laws are still in effect. It sucks, I know.

Do not:
Do not talk about pirating software
Do not give links to software pirating sites
Do not give instructions on how to pirate software
Do not talk about how you just pirated software
Do not give links/talk about/show off private or cracked mmo servers - this is piracy
Do not use "clever" innuendo to talk about any of these things

Stuff that is ok:
Emulation

Abandonware - but you better be sure

Goron forgot to mention that it's only on Japanese PSN, at least last I heard. You'd be wasting your money, there.

Technically yes. But it's the only way you're going to play it without spending hundreds of dollars.

pretty sure it's abandonware or something

LSD is awesome. Day 332 so far

Oh, you're right! I forgot about that. I mean, you could get a Japanese PSN card and blah blah blah, but that's tacking on even more money to what he's probably willing to spend.

Not too long ago we had a whole thread of people who were playing the ROM, no one was banned.

I wonder if DrenDran is still working on that PC remake.
