So I can drive to the store spend money on gas, buy a card, drive home spend more money on gas, then get my games on steam.. Hmmm.

Buy a card with a credit card so you can buy games instead of buying games with a credit card

This is mainly targeted at people who don't have a way of buying Steam merchandise online because of a lack of a credit/debit card.  This is probably much cheaper than prepaid debit cards too.

Again, missing the point.  Credit/Debit cards are not the only form of paying for a physical item.

This is kickass. Now I can just ride my bike up to gamestop and basically buy steam games.

Yeah, and the Orange Box was at Gamestop for a while so...

lol'd. i hope gamestop fails because of this. anyone who can use a computer to play games and hasn't discovered steam will, meaning less games being sold by gamestop. that also means after sale 1 people will realize they don't have to go to gamestop to fill their wallet.

for a competitor with superior product handling.

I've actually been wanting something like this for a while. Just not at GameStop, because I was actually banned from there after I had an argument with the cashier over him making a mistake with my purchase.

Why is this loving hilarious, what did he mess up?

I guess you could also use these as gift cards.

because buying a gift card is so much harder than giving them a note that says "check steam" or just giving them cash.

knowing valve, watch them put it on sale

50% off $50 steam card

isn't this kinda counter-intuitive?

it's like mcdonalds selling a whopper.
