and he's a completely useless melee-carry, and melee-carries are tier-stuff champions because they're not ranged.

Mordekaiser won that one tourney. But I guess it's because he's NUMERO UNO.

He is AP though.

talon mid to counter kass!

Not against good kassadin

Ehh. I saw the build on spectator, and those are supposed to be high-level games. He was doing really well.

But you are not him, USEFUL yi jungle is not easy to pull trough that's why we are recommending you to choose an easier jungler

1. Do you have the same runes?
2. Are you able to replay that same style, even with the random criticals and random Q bonus damage involved?
3. Could you do the same thing on the opposite side of the map?
4. Did he ever get counter jungled? By who?
5. Would the result be the same if he was counter jungled by another champion?
6. Does it completely depend on who he's up against? (the whole team, not just the jungler)
7. Does it also completely depend on who's on his team?

You have to understand that some people will pick a champ based on something very situational. You can't just pick jungle Yi every game and expect that same result. If you want to learn jungle, you're going to have to play multiple jungle champions. Not just one. If you plan on doing ranked or tourneys and you want to be able to pull that off, you'll also have to start practicing draft, and unlock every champion.
You will have to know how to pick according to bans and who on both teams pick what champion. You'll have to be able to co-ordinate with your team. You may even have to pick someone else's champion for them in order to trade after, which is why you'll need all of them. If you ever have to drop out of champ select because of what the enemy team picks or bans, then you're not a good player. If you pick the same role or same champion for that role all the time, then you're not as useful.

Champion select is a hard part of the game. You've got to think carefully.

Also... Never. Lock. In.
It does nothing good. Nothing.

Edit: Final words. These are my thoughts to ANYONE who says a champion is a for sure pick and will always work just because tournament players can do good with them.

The people I play with always do blind pick, so it isn't like I can effectively choose based on the situation. From the very few practice rounds I have played, I seem to be able to replicate the neutral monsters killed stat of the other Yi. I am also learning how to work in ganks. Right now I am mostly trying to figure out jungling with one champion, and then I will expand to many.

So my AP Trist game is bad now because without AD farming is difficult early on and I'm too busy trying to set up a combo on the enemy laner. People quickly become wary of me as well; I just went easily 4/2/0 early and only won because the enemy team had a disconnect.
AP Trist issues; early-game farm suffers, late-game opportunities dwindle.
Veigar issues; don't roam enough.

Enemy went double jungle and started destroying our team with double ganks. I was leona support so after setting up some kills bot and leaving corki with an advantage I went boots 5 and roamed picking up about 8 kills and getting a perfect ult on 3 of them as they attempted baron (They had 3 wriggles so I had barely any time to make the decision to go in, we were still behind at this point so it was a tough decision)

This is why i enjoy ap trist up until team fight stage. Rocket jumping in is basically Self Delete unless you have Zhonya's and the squishies start picking up GAs

oh wow, just played a game as cho top
teemo fed bottom and then teemo + corki left, leaving me, amumu, and ahri
we held out for an hour, getting fed and then going on a living streak until ~30
we would've won too, if they would team fight instead of splitting up and trying to backdoor our inhibitors
