not the most fitting name for a phobia.

I just find it hard to believe anyone actually has this phobia.

i find it hard to believe that a phycologist actually named this. i also find it hard to believe that this is based on any preexisting terms, seeing as the first part of the word is hippopotamus mixed with monster, roses, and squid. what i think happened is some jackass named this as a joke and it actually caught on, and through years of being used by phycologists during very rare cases a dictionary picked it up, and as we all know, everything in a dictionary is suddenly a real loving word.

It is a joke name for the phobia.

It's not the name that made me wtf, it's the example I put in the OP.

The one in the quote box.

It's full of WTF, and came right off the wiktionary page linked as well.

Why not just replace the word with a trolfaic?

It may be latin related or something.
Or the people who named it were hilarious.

for some reason i'm expecting someone to say this is me because masochist.

Is it weird that I have almost no problem saying the word?
