Author Topic: The Earth is NOT spinning! Don't listen to those liar scientists!  (Read 4462 times)

There's a verse talking about the earth having four corners.
To me, four corners means flat and four-sided.
do you mean things like "the four corners of the earth?"
iirc that just means stuff like north/south/east/west but i'm not sure; it's a common phrase though

you missed the point.

im bashing the 100 different types of christians, as they all pretend they are against the world of science, when they cant even agree among themselves.
But uh
Not all Christians go against science. And you will probably respond with more "oh there you have it more dumb Christians lol they cant even follow themselves!" Which, yes, could be true if you really wanted to get that literal, but that would be a pretty ignorant comment. People call themselves Christian because they follow Christian values, it doesn't mean they have to be extremely religious and go to church every day and not ever say "oh my god" and all that trash. Its just saying they are religious. They aren't going to say "oh i follow pretty much everything christian BUT i like science so im not christian, im an athiest."

Not all Christians go against science.
I'm pretty sure they're supposed to.
By recognizing science's claims as truth, you are saying that the word of an all-knowing god is incorrect.

Understanding science and believing in god can not logically work together.
I don't see how someone could not find it very suspicious once they realize that the knowledge of their supposed all-knowing god is limited to the knowledge of man at the time belief in him started.

Well you could look at the literal dictionary definition of 'corner'
But oh yeah, 'metaphors' and all that. Of course, why would an all-powerful god speak to us plainly, when he could instead speak to us through ancient texts translated over and over, requiring confusing interpretations?

But uh

who said all?
that was the entire reason i mentioned all sects. they all use one of the 4 bibles, and all 4 of those versions cover and dont cover the same things regarding a spinning earth.

I think this video's stupidity is contagious....

I feel dumber just by watching

Did you not read the rest of what I wrote? I explained the whole meaning behind that first sentence. Sure, you are SUPPOSED to follow it, but that doesn't mean you can't be a Christian if you don't.

"Four corners of the earth" is a common phrase to refer to the entire earth as a whole. I don't see how that is any way confusing at all, the phrase is used all the time. Never was it meant to be used to mean "the earth is square and has four corners."

i'm agnostic and i am not against science.

All I meant to say is that I don't understand how someone can recognize that their god doesn't know stuff about the world he created, yet still believe that he exists, created the world, and is all-knowing

Yeah I guess
I'll take back the first sentence of that post (still sticking by the second sentence there, though) and my previous post, and present a new reply to Bisjac's post.
I don't believe there are verses that directly state the earth is flat, however there are verses that would require the earth to be flat in order for the verse to be true.

Somewhere in the book with Jesus (mathew or something idk), Jesus explains why he (and god) speaks in parables.

yeah i was wondering about that lol. i dont think the bible ever even claimed the world was flat/round/spinning/falling
Matthew 4:8
"Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them"

Ecclesiastes 1:5
"The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises."

Psalm 104:5
"He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved."

Gee, a 2000 year old book shows the same scientific knowledge of people 2000 years ago? What a surprise!

Accepting the Bible is like demanding an outdated textbook is still the truth. Religion was created to explain what we can't explain. Now that we can explain it, clinging to religion for "answers" just makes you look stupid.

Ecclesiastes 1:5

Psalm 104:5

but none of those explain the earth either way

but none of those explain the earth either way
The first one has to do with the earth being flat.
In order for for "all the kingdoms of the world" to be visible from one place, the earth would have to be flat.
Similar to the link in my previous post:
Daniel 4:11 "The tree grew large and strong and its top touched the sky; it was visible to the ends of the earth."
In order for the tree to be visible from the ends of the earth, the earth would have to be flat. If the earth was round, it would just be lost over the horizon

The third one is about the earth not moving (spinning)

I have no idea about the second one

i think those are supposed to mean something else
