Author Topic: Trench TDM Overhaul  (Read 764 times)

I'm thinking. Some of you may know ace of spades. I was thinking, if it is possible, we should unite blockland's wide array of weapons and graphics with ace of spades' easy coloring and physics. Basically, I'm tired of seeing an old, dirt colored sniping platform with a one block pylon that won't destroy it.

So, the idea:
Upgrade the trench TDM system we currently have:
- Add physics. Just basic ones. I want a tower whose base I destroy to fall. I'm not sure if this is possible, but if it is, it'd be awesome to have.
- It doesn't matter what the color of the land you're mining is, you get to pick the color of the blocks when you place them. (no more ew dirt wastelands)

Yes. That would be awesome.

These would be easy to do.
If a brick is mined, it checks if there is a brick above and moves it down a space.
Whenever you place dirt, it places it as your current color on your spraycan, sort of like the skis.

(no more ew dirt wastelands)
and in its place, you have eye-straining rainbow terrain that gets on everyone's nerves

That's stupid. That'd mean platforms/tunnels couldn't be made AT ALL. Check out ace of spades before you act like you know what I mean.

Depends on wether players are handicapped or not.

Let me tell you right now; players are handicapped. Always.

The colour thing would be nice, but I'm not sure breaking down free-floating blocks would be practical, given that Trench TDMs use a LOT of blocks to make a fairly small construction, and that could cause substantial lag/FPS drops

Not fakekill. I was thinking in the terms of dropping the bricks as one salvage-gamemode style drop which will instantly add the number of dirt that fell to your inv when you pick it up.

dropping bricks would forget up tunnels, you would have to make blocks check for support blocks near them.

Reasons this might not work:
1. No more tunnels
2. No more houses with windows/doors unless colored transparent
3. People griefing 64x cubes from below making pits above...

Ways to fix the reasons this might not work:
1. using the willcausechainkill function to see if it will/willnot make the brick above fall
2. Making the brick not fall if there are at least 3 bricks adjacent to it
3. make all grey dirt bricks not fall/be reinforcers for walls

Reasons this might not work:
1. No more tunnels
not sure how this would remove tunnels
the roof would be supported from the sides

There's already a /clearfloatingbricks thingy somewhere, which is what is meant here, just automatically, not via command.
