Author Topic: Frustration with the Nintendo 3DS  (Read 938 times)

I recently bought this Nintendo 3DS along with Pokémon White and Mario Kart 7 and I was all excited to see the 3D and all. I knew that both games had Wi-Fi and online play support, but knowing that the regular DS games (Pokémon White) would still not support WPA encryption. It was a huge dissapointment. I can't change the router's settings to WEP because WEP is insecure and requires the password to meet a certain criteria, but that would be fine with me if the router weren't my neighbor's (i'm not stealing, we made a deal). I looked all over the stores to find the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector with no luck; I bought an Wi-Fi AP modem that would work as a mirror to distribute encrypted WEP connections to surrounding machines, but sadly, you've got to have the program installed on every machine you want the connection to work on.

For those who don't know what WEP encryption is, it is a very low security system that was created in 1999 and is the only connection type supported by the Nintendo DS. My router's configurations is currently WPA.

Now, I'm about to deliver this modem back to it's place in the store and trade it for something else on the shelves and hopefully it will work. It's an EDUP EP-MS150NW. God, Nintendo, you make me sick. We're in 2012 already.

lets party like its 1999!

It's not the 3DS's fault. D:

ive been pretty dissapointed how their technology has been lagging behind other companies like sony and microsoft. they need to get their heads in the game already (no pun intended) and start making higher-quality graphic systems and such and to quit using all that old technology.

I have an DSI and it can connect to WPA :O

WPA connections will work if it's a DSi game. Otherwise, I don't know.

they need to make a new gaming system where it's just a controller, you, and the screen.

none of this wii-u crap where the screen is the controller or motion activated, just some good old gaming.

it would really boost up their money if they would just do good old classic video games.

Actually, I like the idea. It lets you interact more with the game.

go to advaned settings in the internet section.

Where exactly?

Go to settings. Go to internet and set up access point. When it says connect to WiFi, the lamp, and the Nintendo WiFi adapter, press advanced setting. 3 more access point slots will show. Connect as usual.

That's basically what they're doing to Mario at the moment. Nostalgia is seemingly the only reason Mario still exists.

Huh? I don't see any "Advanced Settings" button.

Sorry, but what is nostalgia?

you know... Pokemon games are just kind of.. Better to me, with the sort of dimensional setting it's in.
