Author Topic: Indie Game: The Movie - A video game movie worth seeing.  (Read 744 times)

-From Steam:

"Follow the creation of the games Super Meat Boy, Braid and FEZ through this Sundance award-winning feature documentary. Critic’s Pick of the New York Times and declared a “Must See” by Ain’t It Cool News. Watch the full theatrical cut in 1080p HD.

After almost two years of painstaking work, designer Edmund McMillen and programmer Tommy Refenes await the release of their first major game for Xbox, Super Meat Boy—the adventures of a skinless boy in search of his girlfriend, who is made of bandages. At PAX, a major video-game expo, developer Phil Fish unveils his highly anticipated, four-years-in-the-making FEZ. Jonathan Blow considers beginning a new game after creating Braid, one of the highest-rated games of all time.

First-time filmmaking duo Lisanne Pajot and James Swirsky capture the emotional journey of these developers as they sacrifice money, health and sanity to realize their lifelong dreams of sharing their games with the world. Four developers, three games, and one ultimate goal— to express oneself through a video game."

i forgetin HATE indie game makers, they always bitch their game is "CREATIVE" or "artistic", and they're using this as a major way of getting people to by their stuff
the ONLY indie game maker that deserves respect is ERIC HARTMAN

yeah, games don't deserve to be bought because they're creative or artistic. they need to be bought because they're bland and unoriginal!

no, they should stop acting all new-yorkian mode, really, they sound like morons, the only reason why they seem better is because they don't have the stress from big time publishers, and thus, make some good stuff, but i HATE how they act all "mainstream sucks, indie gaming is now the future"

indie games aren't fun to make.

they aren't.

indie games aren't fun to make.

they aren't.

Then you are doing it incredibly wrong. Or you don't know how to program and or make art.

i meant doing it on a $0.00 budget with a 3 person team. if that's your idea of an indie game studio then it's not fun.

meaning, an actual game, not a flash game or one of your games. those, my good sir, are fun to make.

Actually, in actuality, what i described isn't your depiction of "indie" at all.

I don't know why you'd really need a budget. There are hundreds of free platforms for making games, like Love2D, or XNA...

i could go on on this subject but it would completely derail the topic. so,

this movie looks cool. i might pre-order it.

I only wish that Fez was on the PC. They'll probably release it on PC after the realization that the Xbox market has no room for things that aren't Minecraft or COD DLC.

... I hope.

Minecraft = Indie
Terraria = Indie
Blockland = Indie
Nearly every single game TB has done a WTF Is... on = Indie.

what the stuff
no
why would someone pay ten dollars to see some
documentary? about a bunch of guys who need to shave making games
this is like the sort of thing people upload to YouTube and let everyone watch
