it's not about dodging draft or dodging jail time. if the government goes to war with india because they stole a piece of cheese from israel, you guys would just go and beat the crap out of indians because it takes less time than sitting in prison. you're being pushed around.

vietnam wasnt about granting people freedoms. through korea and vietnam, everyone kept reminding themselves that china fell to communism.  johnson and eisenhower insisted on stopping communism, so they went to every country they could to try to fight it off. it wasn't about saving the people there, it was about our political and economic interests. it took nixon to say that this was handicapped and that we shouldnt fight the soviets unless trade is threatened.

We actually did learn the truth of Japanese concentration camps, but It was kinda of a short story.
