Author Topic: Thinking of buying S.T.A.L.K.E.R  (Read 874 times)

I am thinking of buying the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games but I can only afford one.  So I just wanted some feed back on Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Skies, or Call of Pripyat Which one is better?

Thanks for the feed back

If you're going for the STALKER games then you need to get SoC first because it was the first released and contains a lot of important details about the story

Ah I didn't really consider story thanks.

Just wait until summer sale when they are like 2 bucks a piece.

i heard ess tee ay ell kay ee arr is a pretty good game...

Just get ArmA CO and DayZ. It's like Stalker minus the fact that Stalker has so many horrid features and mechanics.

yeah I didn't like Stalker much personally. It has some original ideas but they were not executed very well. I dunno, I might pick it up again if I get really board this summer.

>DayZ, a mod which provides a realistic representation of a zombie apocalypse in the form of a game.
>STALKER, a game which involves an alternate reality in which the Chernobyl reactor blew up a second time and did some really crazy stuff.
>Either of them are like each-other in any way other than the fact that they both have guns and are both technically apocalyptically themed games.

Come on now Extrude, that's bullstuff

Morpheus Has a point I will just wait. Thanks for all the replies

They have very similar gameplay mechanics, both rely a lot on searching, killing, and raiding. Plus in DayZ bullet drop isn't so severe you have to use the guns like an artillery cannon during a firefight.

I've never had such exaggerated problems with the ballistics in any of the STALKER games, not even in Clear Sky

Hahaha- no.
And no, STALKER is much more contained- you don't really do much raiding or searching. There isn't a open world multiplayer in STALKER or a single player campaign in DayZ. Plus you don't have to wait 10 minutes to get into a game and search for 8 hours to find a can of spaghetti.

I guess I've been playing it wrong because all I did in the 3 total hours I've played is kill any random campers I find.

Play SHoC first. And without any mods, Not even STALKER: Complete (It changes the game play to be easier and adds cheat-ey things)

Complete adds jack stuff apart from graphical tweaks, it's not even very well made for what it is
