Author Topic: [128x64] Comrade's Adventures - An update a day keeps the Nick syndrome away!  (Read 4763 times)

Comrade's Adventure is the adventure Comrade was promised over a year ago by NickTheSushi/TheDoktor, which was never made. I have taken it into my own hands to make this happen, and after a few days of preparation this topic was born.

Rules:
  • This is a serious adventure like Tingalz's Space Adventures. Nothing over-the-top random or absurd.
  • No large-scale arguing. The drama board exists for a reason.
  • Nothing too off-topic. Try to keep everything related to the adventure.

Squadron members:

Comrade, leader and weapons specialist.
Can weild just about everything, but prefers a SMG.

Antiar, Communications and tech officer.
Weilds guns akimbo and a sonic blaster.

Pentyl, Demolitions and sabotage.
Weilds a machine pistol and sword.

Umiak, Recon and espionage.
Weilds a machine pistol.

: Welcome to Skylands, gentlemen.

: We're here on a mission to eliminate two rapidly expanding gangs. Anyone remember Vanadi and Capodi, the leaders of the Vipers and Pepperboxes?
: The bastards that jacked our gunship and killed Shek? Yeah, I remember.
: Yeah, those two. They've expanded their "kingdoms" and each own at least 1 third of the city.
: Our job is to kill them.
: We are then to liberate the rest of the city from their underbosses and soldatos by any means possible.
: So a simple assasinate-'n-reclaim?
: Correct, but this is on a much larger scale than we've ever done.

: Sir, we're approaching the city.

: Alright everyone, are you ready?
: Yes sir!

: Remember, if you need any assistance, just call me in. I can supply intel, coordinates, ammo and more.

You are now Comrade. What shall you do?

Commands are issued however you like, as long as it has the characters you are commanding and a command in it.

Just make a Blockhead and post it here and you can expect for it to make an appearance (though when is sketchy, but I promise it will at some point as a cameo, supporting character or even a secondary-main character!)

Though I've included all the stuff you'll see on characters that I make, feel free to make up your own helmets or hats or whatever.

Also, those red dots you see should be lined up with the neck when you go to put it on. I suggest using Paint.net or any other program with layers and delete the cyan, copy-paste the packs into a layer below the first and flatten later on.

If you need any help just ask me and I'll be happy to help.

scout area and set up temporary base of operations for now

: Sir, this building might make a good base for now. Should we use it?
: It looks rather old and derelict, there could be-

: Sir, the gangs are moving in on your position. I highly suggest you find shelter.

: Alright, fine. But you're not staying.
: Everyone, scout out the area and report enemy movements and report back.
: Yes sir!

Antiar takes the nothern road...

: Nothing yet.

...Umiak takes the Southern...

: I don't see anyone.

...and Pentyl takes the western.

: SIR! I'm taking fire!
: Night, can you help out Pentyl?
: You bet. Heading over now.

You are now Pentyl.
You're under attack by some Vipers.
What will you do?
>Escape
>(Continue) Engage(ing)

Updates will come rather late today, I have to go to Clarksville on a family day. :l

pretty sure comr4de would prefer anything made by nick over this

pretty sure comr4de would prefer anything made by nick over this
I dunno looks pretty good

>Engage

Ok sorry for not updating yesterday, we were out longer than I thought.

>Engage

You continue engaging the Vipers while Night Fox flies over in the gunship.

: I'm almost there. Keep your space pants on.
: The only thing I'm having trouble keeping on is my helmet. The bloody ruffians shot out an enhancer-eye and cracked my visor!
: How do you even get yourself into these situations?

: Alright, I can see you.

: There's a kilometric forgetton of Vipers heading towards the landing site. Guess they saw us comming.
: Anyways, I'm going to pick you up. There's just too many of them for you to fight.

: Get in.

: Sorry about that. I was caught off guard.
: Right now I'm more concerned about your health right now. You're pretty beaten up.
: It does hurt quite a bit. I'm just glad I've got this armor; the old model wouldn't have held up nearly this good.
: Speaking of, my helmet isn't functioning.
: Gee, I wonder why...
: Knock it off. It's been beat up before but it's never broken on me.
: Can you fix it?
: Sure, but it'll take time. I can fix up the visor and enhancers but I suggest not using it's power until I can fully repair it.
: forget.
: Hey, aren't you supposed to by flying this beast?
: Autopilot. Best thing since sliced bread.
: Where's it taking us?
: Just to the temporary HQ. We should be there...

A soft clunk radiates through the floor and the gunship's engines quiet down a bit.

: ...now.

: Get out.

: Damn, what happened?
: Ambush, sir. I was caught off guard and shot up before I could fully collect my wits.
: Ah.
: Try to be more wary next time, mmkay? Recon isn't exactly a stroll in the park.
: Sorry sir.
: Has anyone returned yet?
: Not yet. They should be here soon though.

: Sir, my sonar scans have found a hidden passage.
: Should I return to base with coordinates or investigate?

Well you're Comrade again, hopefully for a while.
You've got a choice to make.
>Let Antiar scout out the passage and quickly deliver data
>Have Antiar return with cooridates so everyone can provide backup

have him bring back the coordinates

>INVESTIGATE

Antiar crawls into the passage and quickly realizes it's a bit... snug.

: This is bullstuff.

Eventually, after several uncomfortable minutes of squirming and pulling Antiar reaches some sort of push-door thing at the end of the passage. It ajar, and voices can be heard on the other side.

: The boss ain't gonna like this.
: Does the boss like anything?
: Seriously, we've gotten more attention then we should've and now Baddy's sent some commandos to take us out.
: This was ment to be a covert operation and somebody went and forgeted it up, and now we've got 5 commandos on our tail.
: Well, is there anything we can do?
: We can kill them before they ruin The Plan, but it'll be hard.
: Do you have any ideas?
: I'm going to send some Hornets after the pilot and kill him to slow their movements.
: You can figure out something to take out their ground forces.
: Alright.

Oh no. Hornets are (supposed to be) used exclusively by the Blockland Royal Party's military forces. They are pretty much the equivalent of a bomber, and their bombs are devastating to land craft, even more so to land.

Antiar squirms back out the passage quickly, but thanks to his sound powers his movements are silent and unheard by the underlings.

Antiar watches Night Fox fly by from the base, and then sees something in the east that freezes his blood.
Two Hornets are rising from the Viper-controlled buildings and are quickly advancing towards Night Fox.

: Damn it.
: Night, you've got two hostile Hornets heading your way.
: I see them. I can't really do much about them. Can't lose 'em. Can't trick 'em. I'm going to have to take them on.
: Are you crazy?
: I've always questioned my sanity. But I've never questioned my skill.
: Don't do this. Just get out of here.
: Too late. I'm already heading towards them.
: Tell Comrade I'll be a bit late.
: ...I'll do that. Good luck.

Night Fox closes the transmission and accelerates towards the Hornets.

Antiar quickly runs back the the HQ to inform Comrade.

: Is he crazy?
: That's what I said!
: Gah. Well...

Should you
>Call off the attack
>Let Night Fox take on the Hornets
?

Call off the attack!  No way he can take out both of those things.

Also, what are the planets orbiting around?  Currently, it seems that they are going to all crash together very soon

Call off the attack!  No way he can take out both of those things.

Comrade comms Night.

: What the hell are you thinking?!
: I'm thinking I want to either go down fighting or be the first man to destroy two Hornets at once.
: Just fly above the atmosphere! You know hornets can't fly up there.
: Alright, I'll try. If I'm not shot down first...
: 'Course, they'll just be waiting for me when I get down from there.

Night whirls around and starts his ascent to space while the Hornets fire some heat-seeking missiles.

: Ffffffffffffuuuuccccckool kids klubkk.

I've was thinking earlier about how I'm going to do this and I decided large updates with a semi-dramatic choice at the end of each is pretty lame and unrealistic so I'm going to try to do smaller updates with less action scenes.
I'm going to go figure out how to wrap this up in a way that affects the storyline and possibly introduces you to Helmet Powers.

Also, what are the planets orbiting around?  Currently, it seems that they are going to all crash together very soon

The Sun keeps the planets stationary but still rotating so there's still day and night without the slamming-together.

Also on a side note, I'm going to explain my take on Blockland astronomy and physics to avoid further confusion and because I just want to explain something since I'm vaguing things up:

The Sun is a large ball of constantly-resupplying Antumbral Energy, which composes nearly everything (organics, plastic, water, blood, etc) and Blocklanders (which are made entirely of Antumbral Energy) absorb this energy like a plant and live off it, thus allowing Blockheads to live millions to billions of years without dying and keeping construction materials such as plastic from deterioating.
The energy also spins the planets (or Lands, derived from Blockland and the map Skyland), providing day and night, but does not make them orbit.

Gravity is akward because it works and doesn't and can be changed and I won't explain it. Deal with it.

Physics work like Blockland's, except plastic material can be picked up and moved (but only when picked up) and they don't respawn when blown up, though they don't disintegrate into little plastic bits.

And Blocklanders are made of an organic, energized form of plastic with their blood carrying the nutrients from food to around the body to supply extra energy, because The Sun's alone won't keep them entirely active.

So if that takes away any mystery or something (because I know some things are kept unexplained to make it more mysterious and intriguing and some people like it) or anything I can shorten it to "comrade's adventure's blockland physics" and you can forget this ever happened.

DDHHAAGHAHGHGHAG

Seriously, why is hardly anybody posting? :c
Tinge got a reply the minute I put it up.
This took a day to get the first reply, and probably only because the poster is one of my best friends.
Is it because I'm a bad storyteller? :s

I think people are just too lazy to read through everything that had happened so they don't know what is happening

hello

Hi.

Night Fox continues to rise, but the missiles stay hot on his trail.

: stuff, they're still there.
: I need to go higher, or-

Night Fox gets an idea. A risky idea.

: This better work.

Night Fox slows, heads backwards and...

...mother of MERCY.

The gunship, Night Fox and any heat emanating from the gunship disappear in a quick fade. The missiles automaticaly-explode.

No, it's not an unstable prototype cloaking device that's so cliche. Yes, I will explain it tomorrow, right now I'm going to bed.
But if you can guess what it is you win nothing

Also excuse the crappy gif, I didn't have much time to make it.
