Nintendo is not going to put a game that's part of a highly popular franchise on an older system.

yeah but every other game has been on a home console and then they put it on 3DS. lame.

They wouldn't put the game on Wii this close to the Wii U's release ("Holiday 2012", isn't it?), so it was a choice between the Wii U and the 3DS, and they went with the 3DS. Plenty of companies have made games in a series for handhelds in addition to consoles, such as Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and of course Super Mario Bros. Video game companies want you to buy their new systems, and if that means putting popular games on them to get you to do it, then that's what they're gonna do. It's just business, whether you think it's fair or not.

eventually, yes. a few games are stilling hitting the DS, like Pokemon, but that won't last for long. The Wii hasn't been getting much attention from Nintendo since Skyward Sword, so I'd say they're both going to die by the end of the year.
