Hey kiwibear, can you tell me how to set a target for an aegis deflector?
Also I know there's a lot of tutorials for custom sprites, but I still don't understand how to import them into the game.

how to set a target for an aegis deflector
Select the aegis deflector. It will be shown as selected by flashing with a blue outline.

Right click the desired part, then click "Set Parent"

Click on "Tools" at the top of the editor. Click on "Import Section Sprite" then find your desired sprite.

Hope this helped.

Bump because this game is cool.

I've made 3 ships so far that aren't super duper powerful.
The first is the Actation

Two gatling blasters, 3 flak cannons. Heavily armored despite it's small size. Can take a good whalloping before being destroyed.
Then the ActationV

Two gatling blasters, two of whatever those cannons are called, 3 flak cannons. It originally had 5 flak, and I think a couple extra guns maybe beamers but I removed them to make it less OP. The sides are just as heavy as the Actation's and then the extra bits are armored too.
Then finally, the beast of a battlecruiser. The Dracon.

Eight front blasters, two front gatling blasters(clipped over the aegis shielding for some reason), two front mega beam things, two EMP missile launcher things, two blasters on each side, four rear blasters and two rear missile pods. Also has like 4-6 flak cannons, i can't remember and then 6 aegis deflectors. This thing can take a MASSIVE pounding to the front, but if attacked in the rear it will go down quickly. I pitted two of these vs 6 ActationVs and it was a long battle with lots of flak explosions but eventually these won. I just had two of these vs one of every standard enemy ship and they won. These things are beasts. I tried seeing how it did against one actationV when it was facing away from the V and the ActationV won

Le Bump

I made a few fleets.

Kinda disappointed he never finished the last two campaign missions. I suspect there would actually be more since we leave off just as our home base gets wrecked. Also, I always thought that deflector formation in that last level was badass.

What's fine is increasing flak ROF 4x, decreasing flak damage 4x, increasing flak spread a bit, and increasing the randomness to when flak shells explode but a good amount. Makes for some pretty awesome scenes.

Also broadside gunned ships with randomly staggered weapon firetimes are the stuff.

Assdfasdfasdf this game is awesome.

I was also disappointed about the unfinished campaign. It'd be nice to see a sort of "uprising" and kick Nagaya's ass.

Indeed. I can't seem to figure out how to recreate that formation.

i definently made that from scratch unless im remembering something wrong
ill check

@prozy very small amount of weaponry for such a large ship :u
regarding this, it was not the default ship

You know if you do skirmish, one of the AI setups is that formation. Just put it in and then recreate it with your own ships.

I'm going to try and recreate the Thanatos from Eve Online into the game.

Abilities in Eve Online:
  • Deploy swarms drone "fighters" to attack multiple enemies
  • Deploy swarms of "fighter bombers" which are like fighters but have special torcreep bays on them

Planned Abilities in Battleships Forever:
  • Launch fighters and fighter bombers that were recreated from Eve Online from multiple ship deployers
  • A shield-like part that protects it from some damage before collapsing

If I remember correctly from like 3 years ago, I'd spawn the formation in sandbox, then the lead ship would always fly off, they wouldn't cooperate, and they'd end up scattered and smashed pretty quickly. Quite a disappointment, considering how badass that thing is.
