Actually, now that I think of it, there would need to be a way to collect currency.
I propose this.

As players perform certain tasks, achievements are unlocked. For example, "hatch a egg carefully", and "hatch an egg by throwing it". As these achievements are unlocked, the player earns a boost to what we shall call "RPM". "Rings per Minute". Players will, for every minute they are on the server, obtain an amount of rings equal to the cumulative worth of their achievements.

So, if a player were to hatch one of their starting eggs by cradling it, and the other by throwing it, then they would start off with two achievements right off the bat, maybe even more, for things like "Hatch a Chao with angry eyes", "Hatch a Chao with a wiggly mouth", "Hatch a Chao with a perfect S in speed", etc.
Save that stuff to the server. Every time the chao gains an increase in speed, update its walking speed.
well, i thought simply picking up rings would be better, but then fruit grabbing and achievments sound better, but rpm sounds lazy-ish, but, then, can they die, and , what else can they do?

Well, RPM would be fairly unreliable. You would have to sell some of the stuff you find if you want to make a significant amount. A player who has lots of achievements probably wouldn't even need to sell random fruit.

Uh, only other things I can think of that would have any significance would be "toys". There would be toys available for purchase, and the toys that you earn. A purchased toy (and some rewards like the horse and TV) would be usable by any chao that knows how to use it, while the others would be used only by Chao that earned it in a relevant race or in Karate.

If you want me to, I could model the trees, fruit, Chao, and various rewards.

Also, Hero and Dark gardens should have a small effect on the alignment of any Chao put inside. Chao who are put in a garden that is the opposite of their alignment, like a Dark Chao in the Hero Garden, should become upset over time.

wait, i noticed that as their stats increase, they grow new "parts" like horns, but i was thinking, it should be like this:
1.you color them when they're eggs, AND THEY WILL STAY AS THAT COLOR
2.they all look like a neutral chao, other than the color, that is, if you colored them(default colour is blue)
3.depending on their stats, they can become any of the evolved forms, depending in stats

BUT, how can you make them hero/dark?
and, how can you set their stats so they can be either a pure type: aka, they're a flying type, not a speed/flying, or mixed ,aka, a fly/speed?
