Author Topic: The best explanation of how to improve Minecraft I've ever read  (Read 1399 times)

I figured this was going to be another post about "miencrafet sux baels robloex is sooooo much beter fuk u notche", but this guy is actually pointing out good flaws.

I agree completely. What a passionate guy. I've been playing for 1.5 yrs now and most updates (adding new blocks or a new mechanical item) it'd feel really dry after a small amount of time.

I agree with everything there, especially the part about wiki reliance.
When I played terraria, I didn't ever have to use the wiki(this was even before the guide told you things about crafting) until later in the game when I couldn't make every suit of armor to see what they do. When I first played minecraft(about 2 years ago, but the games never changed at all so that doesnt matter) I figured out how to make wooden planks and a crafting bench, and then had to resort to the wiki for help because nothing is ever explained to you.

And I love how half the comments are seething with buttpain because someone said that their game wasnt perfect.

One would assume that the resident 'forum detective' would be able to detect his way to the minecraft megathread ;)

It'd be nice if you started with a written book containing crafting recipes. The fun part about crafting isn't finding new items, it's learning what said items do. So we might as well just have a book full of crafting recipes with no text, so a new player can find a new block and go "Woah I saw that in the crafting book! What'll it make?"

And minecraftforum has a reputation for being generally stuffty.

Most minecraft items are pretty straight forward, an axe cuts trees, a shovel digs dirt, a hoe sows soil. I don't see how there is any fun in finding out what things do :u

Just because some guy decides he wants to make a megatopic doesn't mean everyone has to post in it.

yes it does, and if you don't you shall be sentenced to death.

Did he mention villages? And how the villagers were just reskinned pigs with no drops on release? I was absolutely gobsmacked when minecraft was "released" and added almost nothing new except a god damn endgame scenario.

Nobody likes a smartass.

I find mega-thread posters really douchey actually, its almost like they want some kind of power from it. Those threads suck because things get lost deep in the topic as it grows. We have a forum and subforums, nobody needs to condense things into 1 topic. Thats anti-growth.

Jimmg?

One might also assume that a self proclaimed journalist would know what content is suited to the off-topic board ;)
