Author Topic: Wal-mart is one evil corporation.  (Read 2930 times)

I like to think of Wal-Mart as Buy n' Large from WALL-E. They'll eventually monopolize the whole United States and take over the government, destroy all other stores, put Wal-Marts everywhere, and eventually let the planet go to stuff.

They need to forget off or stop making Wal-Mart Super Stores. They piss me off, because already my favorite deli went out of business after this Wal-Mart showed up two years ago.

Those super centers are draining the life out of the town I live in... All of the little businesses are going out of business and there is maybe one that isn't struggling to keep up.

Not to mention a Wal-Mart super center eats up more energy than your average Mall. They literally do suck out the life of towns.

There are some laws in certain states that prevent Wal Marts from being built in small towns.

That makes sense. It's right on the edge of my small town. It's not in my small town, it's near the border.

loving loop holes.

oh god this might be why all of the local restaurants here are going to stuff

oh wait that's mcdonalds never mind

where i live we have both of them combined.
two mcdonalds right next to eachother, one of them is a wal mart super center with a mcdonalds inside and right NEXT to it is a mcdonalds.

Yeah I would rather go to a mall or Target.

Being the son of an organic farmer, this is kind of obvious for me.

Holy stuff!

There's like a million Subways now.

Holy stuff!
it gets worse when theres a mall 5 minute WALK away.
with a sams club in the middle.
now that's competition at it's WORST.

People act like everything done is so permanent. All it takes is one war and none of this stuff matters.
If you don't like their business practices, see if you can join any movements against them or start one.
Become a lawyer and instate legislation against such business practices.

The current economic system is merely an abstracted/evolved form of handing someone a shiny rock for a chicken. The downside is that since this new form has no physical backing, the concept of wealth and value is nothing more than a shared idea between individuals in society taught that this is the way things are.
Just over a hundred years ago and you could still easily buy things with gold.

While its cool the way the systems have come together to allow for rapid development, it will come at the price of local businesses like that. (unless of course such business practices prove to be fatal in themselves. As specialization almost always seems to win out over generalization when observing socio-economical systems, Walmart versus specific retailers in this case, walmart may not win.  Then again, though, the power of compounded wealth is quite something to behold, and even if they did today start loosing steam, walmart will likely be around for a long time)

I predict a different economy emerging with multiple specialized markets for certain products. Perhaps still relying on our nothing-backed dollar, but I hope a better system can be worked out.
if you don't like walmart, burn down their stores. every times they try to rebuild, burn that down too.

As long as Wal-mart doesn't have one of these I think we will be alright. Some jobs will remain intact.
