Author Topic: [Notepad Bricks] - Ability to Type Text on Walls of Bricks  (Read 1895 times)

He's not asking how we would go about accessing the feature once we figure out how to actually do it.
He's asking how we'll figure out how to actually do it.

No one is having a problem with "what control will we use and what will the tool look like?"
The problem has to do with the fact that there is no easily possible way to do this.

So please stop suggesting models and GUIs when we know those will obviously be required.

I think it'd be much much easier to just have a brick that places a group of print bricks and sets their prints instead.

Type - Click - Type - Click - Type - Click...Ok, the word "for" is done!

Quite inefficient. Especially if you have a giant wall of text, and say you want to change a couple of words...you have to change/shift the entire sentence or whatever. A text box would be so much easier.

What about where you make a giant wall of print bricks instead of one brick? Then you name them all something similar, and when you click on any of them it opens a GUI where you can type

Would be useful. /support

"naming them all something similar"....why wouldn't you want 1 brick? No naming, duplicating, etc...

Guys I tried to make this a simple concept, 1 brick, 1 text box GUI when you click on it. We dont need 100 unnecessary things like a specific item for it. Just click it. (would require at least Build Trust to edit the text?...)

Because stuff DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT
The most simple way to do it is my way

If you call that simple, don't bother making it.

You obviously have no clue how the engine works, you can't just have words magically appear on a single brick without billions of datablocks for custom prints, or engine modded stuff like names that aren't made to be attached to bricks. Otto-san said pretty much the same thing I did. Do you know why that is? It's because it's the most simple way to do what you're asking. You completely misunderstood what he said, and you completely misunderstood what I said. Why don't you try actually being knowledgeable about something before you make a complete fool of yourself.

lol. Maybe I don't know how the engine works, and that's fine, I was just saying if that's the easiest way, then print bricks are easier. I was just throwing the idea out there..

Well ok, but you still don't understand what I was saying
I was saying that you can do this, but with multiple print bricks. It'll open a gui, and you can type like regular and it will automatically set the corresponding letter spaces to match what you've written. So, exactly like you want except it uses multiple bricks instead of just one brick

I was just wondering if we could condense the print bricks, following with an easier way to type text. I'll leave it up to you guys I guess.

Anyone think they can do this?

Could you place multiple small prints on one brick?

Could you place multiple small prints on one brick?
My understanding is that you cannot, but I've been wrong many' a' time

Someone mentioned using staticshapes that are just a face. That wouldn't be efficient at all but it would work.

Someone else mentioned making it plant a bunch of normal size print bricks and then someone else naturally assumed every single brick would be separate - I've made cascaded typing along print bricks before, it's not all THAT hard. Making it wrap lines would be a bit harder but still very possible.

In fact I'm sure I released the event for that on RTB.
