TF2: The Case of The Mysterious Pocket Lint

As many of you TF2 players know, there have been some strange items circulating around the game recently, namely Goldfish, Pocket Lint, Cheese Wheel, Bannana Peel, Barn Door Plank, Secret Diary, and Damaged Capacitor. These items currently serve no physical purpose other than to be there. However, if the eliminating the impossible pack for the medic is equipped, a quote from a sherlock holmes book emerges from the descriptions:
"Think of the deeds of hellish cruelty, the hidden wickedness which may go on, year in, year out, in such places, and none the wiser"
What could it mean?
