Author Topic: Tips for getting rid of scratch rings on discs?  (Read 2103 times)

i heard smearing toothpaste on it with a soft piece of cloth helps but don't rub it in a circle around the disk, move the toothpaste to the edges, wash it with water, and then let it dry.
I've already tried that

It still reads it as a DVD

peanut butter.

seriously.

Ill try that too

And I've tried deodorant

I think the game is dead

If it's an actual ring on the disc, press your finger against it lightly. If you can feel it right away, the disc is forgeted, if it feels smooth or very nearly smooth take it to somewhere that deals with damaged discs if you really care that much. An actual scratch on the disc isn't something you'll fix at home with stuff you're likely to have, and if it's deep the actual data on the disc is probably disrupted. (Even if it's not deep the data is still probably messed up, and it'll freeze and randomly forget up if it runs at all)

Toothpaste only works for light scratches and scuffing.

You could get it resurfaced. You would just need to find a place that does it.

Nah I can't feel the rings at all

I actually took a MW2 Demo disc I had, put it in my Xbox and tilted it causing a ring. I couldn't play it, so I tried fixing it and it worked again.

this worked for me, though they did take longer than expected, but they sent me back my black ops disc back about a year ago when it had a ring in it and it looked perfect. only $5 per disc, too.

does the xbox know that its black ops when you put it in? if so just get someone elses and dl it to your xbox

you need to still put the disc in your xbox 360 to prevent pirating if you download it

Nah its says "Play DVD"
I know its not my Xbox

I wonder if I could borrow a good copy of Black Ops, install it, and possibly it will run that way... but it would still need to recognize it

there's nothing really official there, but i thought it would take like a week, maybe more, mine took a month. :l
i was anxious, but i did get it back, and it worked perfectly. oh, also, you can pay a dollar more for expedited shipping, which guarantees it fixed and shipped back to you within two business days. i didn't pick that, but i picked prepaid mailer ($2.50), which gives you a paid for envelope ready to be shipped back to them with your disc.

My moms not to happy right now so I'll ask her later.
I'm in no rush to get this back, though I'd like to have it asap.
I can wait a month if I have too.

Yea thats what I was thinking
:(

This is why I don't play Xbox anymore.
Or any console for that matter. It's so loving limited.
It's got less memory than a pc, not as fast, breaks games more, you have to pay money to do jack.
The only upside is that you just stick in the game and play because xbox gamers are too loving lazy to install it.
