Author Topic: Tips for getting rid of scratch rings on discs?  (Read 2096 times)

I got this free copy of Black Ops from a friend and it has 2 perfect rings in it. Do you guys know of any DIY tips to remove scratches?
I heard using a rotary tool with a buffer attachment works but that seems like it would make it a lot worse.

I think I'm just going to call my local gamestop or blockbuster and see if they have a resurfacing disc machine

the game's broken
scratches on a game are one thing
when you do something stupid with the Xbox and this happens, there's nothing to be done besides buying another copy

I did this to Halo:Reach a year ago.
It still works to today.

Did what?

My Xbox reads it as a DVD

I called gamestop and the first guy immediately hung up on me. The other guy was a lot more patient.
These 2 gamestops are literally right next to each other.

I assume he did something stupid with his X-box and scratched the disc.

That's a problem with the xbox when it decides "forget your stuff i'm an xbox" and breaks your game.

I dont wanna buy another copy. I have to pay for AC:3 still :C
Looks like im out of luck

it doesn't do it for no reason
it's a user error that causes it
like moving the Xbox with a disc in it
as it clearly says not to do

oh.

well it happened to my brother and that's how he described it.

bananas
windex
all I can really think of
(yes, they do work)

windex is a glass cleaner; it will not get rid of scratches on a window, mirror, or disc
and that's the end of it

i heard smearing toothpaste on it with a soft piece of cloth helps but don't rub it in a circle around the disk, move the toothpaste to the edges, wash it with water, and then let it dry.
