No, I said people liked it, you said people hated it. I NEUTRALIZED the point. Thank you. :)

"Jorgur's Classic Dogfight
Glass' Trench Wars
Tezuni's JAIL RP
Socrates' Bounty Hunter
Vilegence's City RPG"
I agree these servers are terrible
And dedicated servers are usually half assed

Jorgur's <-- Filled with a bunch of stupid kids
Glass' <-- Uses a horrible weapon pack
Tezuni's <-- Now THIS is actually good because there is a balance of fun between cops and prisoners, unlike most Jail RPs
Socrates' <-- Sort of fun but the map should be more flat instead of lots of islands.
Vigilance's <-- I haven't tried this yet

I've hosted a Jail RP overnight and got 24 players. The map was designed for 16 players, though!

Jorgur's <-- Filled with a bunch of stupid kids and annoying to find bases
Glass' <-- Uses a horrible weapon pack and has glass as a host
Tezuni's <-- Has badmins and a lack of administration
Socrates' <-- Sort of fun but the map should be more flat instead of lots of islands.
Vigilance's <-- stuffty admins who abuse their power and think more highly of themselves then other players, like a lot of other city RPGs

I am talking about servers like
Jorgur's Classic Dogfight  Not to my taste
Glass' Trench Wars  Admin is a bit biased and abusive
Tezuni's JAIL RP  Admin is handicapped
Socrates' Bounty Hunter   ]  Never heard of
Vilegence's City RPG       ]  Never heard of but probably stuffe given its a CityRPG from a random person

My opinion on those servers. But being dedicated isn't a consideration for me, I prefer dedicated servers as long as they have admins on around the clock.

I am making a top notch quality (if I may say so) jail roleplay that is actually somewhat realistic (not HEY I FOUND A ROCKET LAUNCHER IN MY PILLOW!!!11!), and that will be periodically hosted for like, a maximum of 7 hours a day. I shall only admin those who I trust completely and I myself shall be there 90% of the time to supervise. Votekick will be enabled but abuse will lead into an admin cancelling it and kicking the abuser. I have done this in the past with another jail roleplay and really, drawing players went with ease. If someone finds the quality good they'll tell their friends and the word will spread.

the problem with these servers is that the grand majority of them are ideas taken from either a valve game or other indie scene games. Jail RP is a copy of Jailbreak in Counter-Strike, CityRPG is a copy of RP servers on GMod, Bounty Hunter is The Ship, Trench Wars is Ace of Spades, etc. Blockland's community of 13 year old kids can't come up with anything original so you end up with stuff that poorly emulates other games.

The servers suck but it has nothing to do with dedicated servers, this is a problem that's existed for a long time in Blockland and it has everything to do with the stuffty community

To get a good server, you need to make a good build, and a forum topic. If someone sees your server, and then a dedicated server that they've heard about and seen on the forums, they're going to join the dedi. Just make a topic in this board, with information and pictures of your build.

If it looks good, hopefully you'll get some players!

A forum topic isn't needed really.

A forum topic isn't needed really.

It does help promote the server though, people might be more inclined when they see what its all about. And it allows for players to report any issues on the server which is important. Not vital, but helps. c:

its much quicker to see a forum topic than to find it in game. just make it look good. once people join more will join and it will be fun!

Jorgur's isn't always up, as a super admin needs to host the minigame for it to be playable I think. It's their right to have dedicateds anyway, eventually people will get bored if those dedicateds don't mix anything up, and they will lower in player count.

I was thinking of making a dogfight server that focused more on dogfighting or vehicles than shooting but I always get lazy and put it off.

I actually agree with you OP everyone goes for the popular servers and never join the creative new servers which makes people not want to host.
this seems logical

When I scan the server list of Blockland I look over stuff like TDMs, DMs, RPs, etc. because I know most of them would probably be the same old maps where the host loaded Slopes, set down a bunch of blue and red tanks and helicopter spawns and loaded up Tier+Tactical.

I tend to look forward to servers that have something new and exciting, like public addon testing or gamemodes.

You just need something interesting in your server that would catch the eye of someone. TDMs, DMs and RPs are generally looked over. A showcase of an amazing build or map that has been posted on the forum works well.
