That's cool if size and memory footprint is a concern of yours. I was wondering more along the lines of whether VLC is mangling the quality of audio and video during processing compared to MPC.
Well I had problems rendering some MKVs an AVIs when I had VLC installed, even when using MPC. I did a complete wipe of all codecs and just installed CCCP fresh and I haven't had problems. I think VLC is fine if you're just playing back some mp4s or DVD rips or w/e, but anything HD with large filesize and uncompressed audio tends just run in to problems with all 6 million of the codecs with VLC. I watch a lot of 720p and 1080p anime releases, so I pretty much require MPC. I can actually render 1080p files smoothly with MPC, but not with VLC.
