Author Topic: Does anybody know a good .ogg player?  (Read 1573 times)

Oh ya, I had heard about that program. Never actually used it though. What's good about it? Google's not helping me out here since apparently people who use either program are the most handicapped people to ever exist.

Really light (the entirety of MPC is a single 10mb executable) and it doesn't install a bunch of stuff codecs that you'll never need.

why have so many people said audacity?
that's like using wmm to play your videos

That's cool if size and memory footprint is a concern of yours. I was wondering more along the lines of whether VLC is mangling the quality of audio and video during processing compared to MPC.

Well I had problems rendering some MKVs an AVIs when I had VLC installed, even when using MPC. I did a complete wipe of all codecs and just installed CCCP fresh and I haven't had problems. I think VLC is fine if you're just playing back some mp4s or DVD rips or w/e, but anything HD with large filesize and uncompressed audio tends just run in to problems with all 6 million of the codecs with VLC. I watch a lot of 720p and 1080p anime releases, so I pretty much require MPC. I can actually render 1080p files smoothly with MPC, but not with VLC.

Because Audacity plays and loops .ogg files easily

I have a bunch of HD movies and animu laying around on my network so I guess I could do some quick and dirty testing. I've never had a noticeable problem with anything but I also don't have anything to compare VLC's playback to yet.

The interface is also kind of clunky compared to a dedicated music player though.

Along with programs that were actually intended for listening to audio files.

VLC
VLC is good to have because it can open so many things anyway.

You can listen to the music either way xD

Although a player with multisong shuffle would be nice
