Author Topic: help ive thrown off my circadian rhythm  (Read 1694 times)

i've been staying up really late the past week or so and now i'm pretty much unable to get to sleep before 4 am
this means i usually wake up around noon
how do i get myself to fall back into my regular sleep cycle so i can start waking up around 10 again

If you can endure it, stay up all night and then sleep around the time you'd normally want to sleep. You'd be tired enough already from not sleeping.

I was going to suggest the same.

eating is a very good way to balance out your circadian rhythm

wake up at 8:00 am, have a nice breakfast, and that might do the trick.

Same here.
Best thing to do.

I would want to try that, but I'd rather be alert and awake.

I don't usually even eat breakfast, I suppose that wouldn't hurt to try.

Even if you can't fall asleep for a long time lay in bed at the time you want to sleep and stay there, it will take a long time to get your sleep patterns back together.

Are you me? Because I've been doing the same thing lol

Tried the whole "stay up all night and day" thing myself the other night but gave up around 8am

You could also try doing something tiring in the late afternoon, like going for a run, that'll make you tired and want to sleep earlier

I tried this the other day, went to bed at like 10 o clock. Fell asleep, woke up at 1, tried to get back to sleep for about an hour before giving up and waking up altogether. I couldn't get to sleep again til 6.

My parents would look at me like I'm crazy if I said I was going for a run, but I'll consider it.

Me too, I gave up at 8am when I attempted an all-nighter

Just stay there, if you give up and go do something you will never recover, even if it means just laying down with your eyes closed for hours.
Also you will sleep 100x better if you exercise.

It's 3am right now and mostly I stay up until like 5 or 6.

It's easier to stay up when you have a friend with you. I was going to do it one time with somebody over skype but they canceled. My pattern is still messed up since then.

Bitch please.

All 6 day nighter lol.

Take 30 minute naps 3 times with 10 minute intersections every day. Sleep 1and ½ hours a day and feel like youslept ten. Do 5-6 naps if you want.
