Author Topic: Is PC gaming dying or growing?  (Read 2620 times)

Do you think you're want to jump like an idiot playing a sonic riders game?
That's my point. Not everyone wants to jump around like an idiot in front of a TV.
Then they don't buy that thing?

And the point of jumping and all that is to add at least some kind of fun new way to play the game other than using the controller.

If you have a problem with jumping you're FAT.

It seems as if it's growing, yet as Visage said, the quality is noticeably lower than before.

This year we're getting a new tribes, new mechwarrior, and new planetside, all of which are or are going to be free. I don't know if it's growing, but it's certainly not dying.

Oh great... FTP crap. All FTP games are doomed to be horrid with pay for premium content and high monthly rates to play the game correctly.

This is why you're handicapped.

EA is obsessed with doing that with their F2P games. You get some starter weapons, and it takes you ages to gain up points.
When you get enough, you get a NEW 1 DAY ITEEEMMMMM. To get things for more than that for unlimited, you have to go into the store and give them money. BFH and BF:P4F have a card and "vending machine" system, which you only have for one day and you have to wait the next day to get another item. This doesn't mean you get to pick items or always get them unlimited, no no, it's just anything you pick  :panda:

I'm not saying all F2P games do this, but some do.

if motion controls continue to exist all the hardcore gamers (as if there are any on console LOL) are going to move to PC and console will literally be 100% casual scrubs

It's always growing. People mainly choose the computer for gaming, because you can always find a way to do something consoles cannot do.

I have pancakes on my toast, your argument is invalid.

Plenty of MLG 'Console Gamers' out there.

PC gaming will always be around, same with console gaming. Simple as that.

PCs you can upgrade and work with to make them run faster, smoother, handle more stress. Developers will always release on it. Though its pricey. To keep a top of the line rig all the time, you need a decent amount of money. GPUs are expensive. Same with the newest processors. If you don't have tons of expendable income, you simply can't afford to PC game (as well)

Consoles are built incredibly powerful when they first come out, and the developers can work with it and push its boundaries over the years. You can't upgrade its components, so you're stuck as is. This is fine by most people. It still makes stuff look pretty, and if you're going through HDMI, there's hardly any difference between games on PC and games on console. (imo at least)

I don't know where pc gaming will be in the future. With Microsoft phone mimiciking windows 8(which has removed the start button) and the arm touch screen tablet to compete with Apple's stuff kind of worries me.

console games has to use gay little tricks to make them run with "good" graphics, like having 20 FOV and horrid terrain textures

PC gaming is dying.

PCs are hilariously expensive compared to a game console, and require more maintenance in exchange for more computational and graphical power. We're getting to the point were the difference between a PC and a console is getting so small that only hardcore gaming enthusiasts will buy a PC, soon afterwards PCs will become significantly less common.

The same thing will also happen to consoles as even smaller devices are capable of the same technology, and continue to act in this trend until the small size will actually hurt the machine's ability to perform.

steam is destroying gamestop and other game stores as well. in the UK the stores where trying to sue steam. and then tried to ban it.
in the US, gamestop's sales are way the hell down because of it.
and now with EA's digital download growing...

the new generations of gaming are going to be done by direct download on all systems. which means more people "may as well" be pc gaming since its better hardware anyways.
