Author Topic: Ephialtes and Lub - Abusing RTB Authority?  (Read 10669 times)

Just post it in the Add-Ons section, it's nothing really to cry about.
this.

You just don't get it, do you?
actually, while they are right, i do agree.

ephi does have the right to do whatever the hell he wants with his system, but that doesn't mean that other people have to like it.

you also can't really bring 'good and evil' into this, cause that's not comparing apples to apples.

waaah I can't post my pony addons that cause stuffstorms in RTB, I guess I'll have to painstakingly put it in the forums.

the stuffstorm will be x10 worse if they post it here

I honestly don't care about the whole failing add-ons, but I think Ephialtes is being a richard about everything now.

Oh no, a kid posted something a little stupid.

Maybe I should cuss the stuff out of him and lock his topic without even solving his problem.

Well, it's the forums' problem then. Ephi just doesn't want it on RTB.

badspot doesn't deserve it anymore than Ephi :u

I'd prefer not to see pony stuff ingame all over the place and even then it's almost always stuff so this is completely fair.

Besides if you really want this stuff just install it without rtb

badspot doesn't deserve it anymore than Ephi :u
Then I no longer have an argument.

well im going to go jump down a staircase

A couple of years back I made a bit of a stuffstorm with a thing called Winbin that was releasing failed addons RTB banned, because I felt that someone should, uh "protest" how Ephialtes runs RTB mod checking.

But after a while it occurred to me. RTB is NOT a community run or managed project. Its not an official Blockland service. Ephialtes wasn't magically promoted into running RTB, its something he and others have been working on for a very long time if I am not mistake. RTB's service is not a 'democracy' and it never was. I'm not saying I appreciate or like this approach, but thats the way it is. He has no obligation to provide RTB in any other way.

Its a bit anti-competitive, because we have very little alternatives, but you don't have to use RTB.

RTB is more like a product. Its been highly successful and a lot of people use it, but thats because they choose to. It is still operated by Ephialtes (mostly) and it will always be run in his own interests.

Oh and, MLP content is trash. If you want to use it, you can always share it on the forum (if its allowed) or just share the download with your friends offsite.

basically we are all getting a product were moderators control what add ons we download and what things we say on chat

This topic is fantastic, the bitterness from Kalphiter is so standard when discussing RTB now, it's great.

I know you don't understand how RTB was created or is run, but Ephialtes has poured considerable amounts of his time into creating RTB for nothing but the benefit of the community. The servers required to run and develop RTB mean it runs at a loss every month. Again, this is him spending money for nothing but the benefit of the community. I know you think he's some jew burning national socialist, out to get everyone he doesn't like, but you must realise he is spending this time and money for you and the community, nothing else. If you don't like the way Ephi choses to run RTB, feel free to chat to your friends through MSN/Skype/Steam and download and update your addons manually from the Blockland forum, it wouldn't bother us if you did this.

There is no set agenda or special list we use to fail or accept certain addons, those that are of quality, and that we believe would benefit the community are accepted. Addons that are poor quality or don't particularly add anything to the Blockland experience are failed. It really is that simple. If addons weren't moderated, RTB would just be full of stuff and the community wouldn't be able to find quality addons, that isn't what RTB was made for.

The MLP addons that were failed were of stuff quality and, in the opinion of the reviewer (I don't know/care who failed them), didn't add to the BL experience. Yes, the reason "No MLP stuff" doesn't reflect that, but who cares, the addons were terrible.

It's easy to jump into drama and make a thread when you know nothing - you can't see the quality of the addons in the fail bin, only the reason for failure. I don't really think this topic needed an explanation from Ephialtes or me, but whatever, here it is.

The servers required to run and develop RTB mean it runs at a loss every month.

Always wondered about that. :o

The nerve of those two!!
