the 2 companies are at the peak of their own industry. they can cross produce movies/games without each others help or pay-share.

Pretty sure Pixar does their own thing most of the time.

Pretty sure a long time ago, on the Left 4 Dead blog Valve was showing the process that it took to make the intro. If I remember correctly, they had some help from some people at Pixar with animations and stuff. Maybe some other things too.

anyways if you search there is a really deep and dark story behind the game. From what I know engineer built a respawn machine
