bitcoins can be profitable if you have a good rig
go to Butterfly Labs, they have a 600 dollar encryption box with a great hashrate.
speaking of hash, I'm assuming you're using bitcoins for silk road

I think bitcoins go for around 6 USD these days, so 40 would be 240 USD. Also, purchasing bitcoins with actual money is a bad idea.

bitcoins only exist for buying illegal guns on the net, or drugs, child research and the like.
