Vivian is a boy. Waluigi is a terrible character and I'm glad they left him out of Mario Kart 7. Shy guy is cool, yes. King Boo is cool too.

Vivian's not a boy, every single character and text in the game says "she." The only reason everybody says she's a boy is because in the Japanese version of the game her sister called her a man ONCE as an INSULT, and not as a fact. If you look in the English version, they replaced it with "ugly." If you call your brother a girl, does that automatically make him a girl? No, it doesn't. It means you're calling him a wimp. Beldam was making a metophor-insult, and as such Vivian is still a girl. Even if she was a boy, then it would be only in Japan and in other regions she would be a girl.

In the Japanese version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Vivian was said to be male. That is stated in Vivian's character description, which is roughly translated as "One of the shadow group, Vivian appears to be a girl but is really a boy." (in Japanese: 「カゲ三人組の一人だった　オンナのコのようで　ホントは　オトコのコ」). Additionally, Goombella's Tattle reads: "That's Vivian. Of the shadow group, she's the youngest sister... er, brother." (in Japanese: 「『ビビアン』よ　カゲ三人組の一人で　いちばん下の妹　・・・じゃなくて　弟ね」). [1]
