Author Topic: The Death Penalty: The Number Two Most Controversial Topic in BL EVER  (Read 15759 times)

Now that I made a fool of myself on that thing with the Batman and the shooting, I got a sudden curiosity.

What are your thoughts on the death penalty's legality, and what crimes do you feel should be punishable by death.
What kind of death?  Lethal injection, bring back the guillotine, electric chair?

Disclaimer: I'm not trolling and will not state my opinion on the matter until I am sure the topic will last through the day.

anyone sent to life or the death penalty should be experimented upon.

Guillotine was later found to be a very painful death, as the head was still alive several minutes after the chopping. It then later dies of either blood loss or suffucation.
Needless to say, it's not even merciful in the slightest.

I believe it should be used for larger crimes, eg Flash Mob/rape and the like

Because if there's no real threat of a punishment, why not do all that stuff? "I'll just end up in some factory for a few years making car parts or whatever. No big deal."

Death penalty is fine, anytime someone is intentionally murdered in my opinion.

capital punishment does not serve any practical purpose

there isn't much more to it, really.

I fully agree.

it's funny how some of you guys think that criminals are just like bad guys in movies

fortunately some of us live in the real world

I don't think there should be a death penalty. Sure, we don't know what happens after you die - but wouldn't it be better to put the individual into solitary confinement for life? Literally no contact with anyone for the rest of their life while they live in a small sound-proof closet, and they slowly lose their mind. Seems a lot worse than being put down.

It's funny how assuming you are.

what's the point of that though

mentally ill people are mentally ill. They're not random people who go "why not"

I think we should force them to clean streets / make industrious things all day until they can't work anymore. Then, there'd be no time for rape or any other bad things that happen in prisons, and we'd make a profit.

can someone explain to me how ending a life is more expensive than keeping them alive?

Absolutely true.  Nobody wants to go to prison or labor, and nobody would even be fine with it.  Prison literally ruins people's lives all the time.  Life sentence?  PRISON FOR LIFE.  No getting out.  They control every aspect of your life.  You can get written up for brushing your teeth at the wrong time.
