Author Topic: The Death Penalty: The Number Two Most Controversial Topic in BL EVER  (Read 15829 times)

I think we should force them to clean streets / make industrious things all day until they can't work anymore. Then, there'd be no time for rape or any other bad things that happen in prisons, and we'd make a profit.

Where they can attack civilians. Nice. The point of prison is they're away from society where they can only attack each other and the guards.

can someone explain to me how ending a life is more expensive than keeping them alive?
Processes to getting people to the death penalty can be expensive.
Who knows if it's really that expensive though.

anyone sent to life or the death penalty should be experimented upon.
North Korea much?

what's the point of that though
Literally no contact with anyone for the rest of their life while they live in a small sound-proof closet, and they slowly lose their mind.

Would you rather live your life in a small confined space and never get to see or hear anybody, or die? Killing them does literally nothing. They're dead. The end.

But when they are locked up and forced to be alone for the rest of their life, most likely they'll go crazy. It almost seems like torture at some degree.

North Korea much?

They only do that if you hack their Maple Story accounts.

Absolutely true.  Nobody wants to go to prison or labor, and nobody would even be fine with it.  Prison literally ruins people's lives all the time.  Life sentence?  PRISON FOR LIFE.  No getting out.  They control every aspect of your life.  You can get written up for brushing your teeth at the wrong time.
I have no idea how to respond to you so I'm just going to say okay.

Under supervision / at gunpoint, numbnuts.

They're dead. The end.
Isn't that kind of the point?  They are dead.  They can't do any more harm to anybody because they are dead.  They're literally worm food and nothing else.

mentally ill people are mentally ill. They're not random people who go "why not"

I meant people that would be inclined to do such things.

They're dead. The end.

Lovely.

wuh..w.. you mean people who are mentally ill?

Here is my opinion

If someone kills someone else they should get the same punishment
So if someone killed someone else the should get a death sentence

I don't think it should be a free pass to get out of prison. Any sadistic murder can say "lole im insan pls dont put me in proson"

It's apparently really hard to prove insanity. What you see in movies is bullstuff

It takes a lot of lawyers and experts called in to prove without a shadow of a doubt that someone is guilty of something like premeditated murder in the first degree. Copied directly from the Florida Supreme Court definition of First Degree Premeditated Murder:
To prove the crime of First Degree Premeditated Murder, the State must prove the following three elements beyond a reasonable doubt:

1. (Victim) is dead.
2. The death was caused by the criminal act of (defendant).
3. There was a premeditated killing of (victim).

The two penalties for this crime are death and life sentence without the possibility of parole. Once you get to the, "beyond a reasonable doubt" part is where it gets expensive. The lawyers and experts needed to prove this are incredibly expensive for the prosecution. So much so that depending on the state it usually costs more to execute someone than to imprison them for life. It's also worth considering that the unspecific nature of the third element probably is hell on the prosecution when trying to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt.
